Today’s holiday tradition comes to you from one of my favorite couples, Nick & Aleah Valley of Valley & Co. Not only are these two some of the most talented designers out there (plus their entertaining tips are always on point), but they are also absolutely wonderful people, inside and out. We can all learn something from this humble husband & wife dynamic duo, and I’m so happy to have them stopping by to share their favorite holiday tradition with us today.

Thank you so very much to Jacin for having us today. We’re happy to be sharing our holiday memories on Lovely Little Details and hope you are all enjoying the holiday season and its magic.

The holidays are such a special time where we dust off boxes, unravel Christmas lights, and trim the trees while reminiscing on family celebrations, wonderful food, fun trips, and what the holidays truly mean.

Particularly special to us is our collection of ornaments we’ve accumulated together. On our travels we make a point of picking up a Christmas ornament that will stand out on our tree. Every Christmas morning Aleah’s parents {ahem, Santa} also gift us with amazingly beautiful handmade ornaments from special places and artisans. Last year we were gifted gorgeous hand painted beaded ornaments from Israel, years prior it’s been hand carved Santas with glittering cloaks, metal sculptures of Big Ben or the Eiffel Tower, intricate ceramic baubles, and other sentimental ornaments that bring joy when we take them out of their tissue paper and boxes each season.

These ornaments are all so very special to us and mark what the holidays truly mean: being thankful for our loved ones. While we’re ever-so grateful to be gifted wonderful Christmas presents from our families as well, it’s these ornaments that hold a special place in our hearts and are what we remember each year and cherish.

Thanksgiving weekend we deck the halls while watching Elf, A Christmas Story, Last Holiday, or the Grinch enjoy some spiked cider!

Wishing you all a very Happy Holiday!
Aleah + Nick

love love love this! As we get older, it’s the little things during the holidays that get us excited…decorating the tree with all the special ornaments we’ve collected over the years is definitely one of my favorites:)

Sweetness! My bridal shower guests were asked to bring me Christmas ornaments for my shower last year & it was so much fun decorating the tree with those special ornaments this year.

What a wonderful collection! We always get new ornaments each year that celebrate achievements, milestones, and we don’t even have room on the tree for anything else these days!

I absolutely love this idea and would love to start a tradition like this for my family! I have so much to learn from my fellow Elf buddies.

I would love to have a collection like that. But, until we can fit a full-sized tree in our place, I’ve held off on growing that collection!
