My grandfather, Harold Vernon Pepper, Cdr. USN (Ret), (top center) was a pretty amazing man. He served in the US Navy during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam and was the honorary recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Air Medal with three stars. So to say he was pretty amazing is really an understatement. He was a true American hero, and certainly a hero of mine. Besides his military accomplishments, he could also pull quarters out of our ears – and even though we could hear the jingle in his pocket each time, we always thought it was magic. It was. And this weekend, along with my extended family, we will be putting him to final rest in the most honorable way possible, via Navy memorial in San Diego.
So as we head down south for the weekend, I remind you to call your loved ones and say I love you.
See you back here next week.
