Today’s lovely guest in the Bloggers {Unveiled} series is the amazing and inspirational Carley Roney, chief content officer of The Knot. The Knot really needs no introduction, but I can tell you that even before I was planning my own wedding, I was counting down until I could register as a member on The Knot and create my checklists, look through pictures, and get even more excited about planning than I already was! So needless to say, I am extremely honored to have Carley stopping by my little old blog today!
About the Blogger:
Ms. Carley Roney co-founded The Knot Inc. in May 1996 and has been its Chief Content Officer since August 2008 and also has been its Editor-In-Chief since May 1996. From May 1996 to September 1999, Ms. Roney also served as Vice President of Creative Development.

How did you get started in the wedding world?
When I got engaged in 1993, my now-husband (and business partner) and I were excited like any other couple, but quickly realized the resources available at the time couldn’t help us. I was working 70 hours a week and no vendors were open when I finally could sit down and plan after 7 p.m. There were no etiquette tips for modern couples. I couldn’t find any ideas on how to plan a wedding for a little blonde girl marrying a 6 ft. tall Chinese guy- never mind finding a red wedding dress since my future MIL informed me that white was the color of mourning! We were also planning and paying for the wedding ourselves and we couldn’t find any tips on how to do this. With the realization that the world of weddings was outdated, cluttered and chaotic, I and three other partners formed The Knot in 1996 to help today’s brides and grooms (and their families and guests) plan the weddings of their dreams – whether it’s a country club-chic wedding or a tropical destination wedding.
What is your makeup staple?
My go-to is Giorgio Armani Silk foundation. On most days, that’s all I wear. It gives a fresh look and I don’t have to wear anything else to feel beautiful.
What’s one thing that others don’t know about you?
My absolute favorite part of the day is waking up in the morning with my kids in bed with me – even if there are a ton of elbows and knees jabbing into me, it’s that QT that makes my day.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to others trying to get started with their own business?
I have two! Be willing to make sacrifices. It will come in the form of free time, money, your social life, and friends. Once you have your feet on solid ground, you can regain some. Also, make sure to enjoy what you do. It’s challenging but also a pleasure to work for yourself, not everyone is so fortunate. Take pride in it.
What is your favorite part about weddings?
I LOVE to dance, so my favorite part of weddings is that moment in the evening when everyone is on the dance floor, celebrating the couple, having fun, acting silly and truly letting loose.
What is your hobby outside of blogging {is there life outside blogging} :)?
Aside from my day job of overseeing the content for all The Knot brands, my favorite thing to do is to spend time with my three amazing children! Whether its soccer in the park or exploring local Brooklyn hangouts, I always have fun and love spending time with my kids.

It’s so cool to read why she created The Knot. I’m lucky I can’t remember the wedding world without it!

I love these interviews more and more! And what I love is that you are giving these ladies and guys a personal voice. How sweet that her favorite time is with her children! And I would have never known that they are a husband and wife team.
