Bloggers {Unveiled}: Chrissy of The Perfect Palette

The Perfect Palette

Today’s guest in the Bloggers {Unveiled} series is probably one of the most supportive bloggers out there, Chrissy from The Perfect Palette! If you are a bride-to-be all about the colors, The Perfect Palette is a definite must-read! Thanks for stopping by today, Chrissy!

About the Blogger:
Hi Everyone! I’m Chrissy, that color obsessed girl behind the blog The Perfect Palette! What’s the Perfect Palette, you ask? The Perfect Palette is a little site that I set up to help brides find their perfect wedding day color palette. A sweet thanks goes to Jacin for asking me to be a part of the Bloggers Unveiled series! It’s such an honor and I’m so excited to share!

Blogger {Unveiled}:

How did you get started in the wedding world?
I was actually one of those art majors in college who graduated and the second I hit ‘the real world’ I was without any plan on how I was actually going to earn a living. And although I did pursue creative avenues, nothing really panned out that was going to pay the bills!

So before I knew it, I had changed my focus and I was applying for sales jobs in Corporate America. Anything to get me out of my parent’s house! For 5 long years I worked in software sales for IBM, and although it was a very financially rewarding career, I was admittedly very unfulfilled. I had abandoned almost all of my creative outlets and my only focus was work and living for my weekends.

That was until I got engaged! A whole new and exciting world of creativity opened up to me and wedding planning instantly filled the creative void I had been suffering! I became a DIY queen and it didn’t stop there! I became obsessed with dreaming. Dreaming of how I could create our dream wedding

I started creating the color palettes that you see on my site in order to figure out what I’d like my wedding to look and feel like. But then I couldn’t stop! Before I knew it, I found myself on the the Knot message boards offering my help + services to anyone + everyone who needed me!

The response was overwhelming! And before I knew it I had hundreds of emails. All from brides-to-be who needed me. I felt a sense of fulfillment that I had never felt before. I was using my creativity to make a difference and it felt good. And that was it - I was hooked!

Then one day someone asked me if I had a blog where she could go and see all of my palettes? A blog, I thought? And it was that simple…the Perfect Palette was born.

What is your makeup staple?
I’m admittedly a red lipstick kind of girl. And although I know red lipstick isn’t really everyone’s thing - it has always been my thing. It’s kind of my signature look, I guess. Who makes my favorite lipstick? That would be ORIGINS! I seriously can’t get enough of that stuff.

What’s one thing that others don’t know about you?
The one thing people may not know about me is that I’m a new mom! My baby boy just turned 11 months the other day and I can’t believe that I’m already planning a 1st birthday party! A lot has happened in 3 years what with getting engaged, starting my own business, getting married and having a baby. I guess you could say, time flies when you’re having fun!

What’s one piece of advice you would give to others trying to get started with their own business?
One piece of advice I can share in regards to starting your own business is to simply do something you love. As I mentioned before, I used to be stuck in a very unfulfilling career where I saw no light at the end of the tunnel. I felt like I was just going through the motions most of the time. There was no joy or sense of accomplishment, really. Sure, I met some amazing lifelong friends and for that reason, I have no regrets. However, I think at the end of the day, if you can figure out a way to make a living doing something you love - something that makes you happy, that is when you find true satisfaction. I feel so lucky to have found that! My happiness comes from combining my love for helping people and sharing my creativity.

What is your favorite part about weddings?
Well, besides my love for color palettes + all of the creative DIY projects out there, what I really love most about weddings is witnessing the coming together of two families. Family is really important to me and it’s so special to me to see all of that love being shared. What can I say? I’m a big sap.

What is your hobby outside of blogging {is there life outside blogging} :)?
Sure there is! I absolutely love to go antiquing - I suppose this is because I love to surround myself with things that have meaning, depth and a story. My perfect day consists of going antiquing with my mom and then grabbing lunch together. Oh, and I’m also a bit of a shutterbug too! I’m admittedly THAT girl who has to take a million and one pictures during every get together. What can I say? I have a little bit of a soft spot for capturing memories.

Happy Friday everyone!

Chrissy was the reason I started my own wedding blog in the first place. I worked for a small wedding company writing articles and blogs for them and came across The Perfect Palette. I was hooked! Seeing her creativity and all of the unique ideas was my inspiration. When anyone I know gets engaged the first site i tell them to visit is The Perfect Palette. I love blogging, even if I haven’t been able to turn it into a business. Thank you for all you do Chrissy!

This was an amazing story and it was so nice to see you up close and personal (I’m so used to seeing your head down with the color swatches). I so loved your red lipstick comment and how it’s YOUR thing. Anyone who knows me, knows I love a person that’s comfortable in their own skin and is ok being who they are. I also loved that you’re following your creative passion. It’s hard conforming to what others think you should do, which is why I love being creative for a living as well. The wedding industry is my passion and creativity runs through my blood. I, like you have found exactly where I’m supposed to be! Thanks for sharing your story and thank you Jacin for sharing it as well!

I know I may have said this before, but Chrissy’s blog was one of the first I found when I planned our wedding. It was so helpful with all of the ideas and inspiration. She also was one of many great people who left comments on my personal blog (TheWorldAroundHer). Congrats to her, her family, success, marriage and little baby!!

    PS she rocks red lipstick!
