About the Blogger:

Hello!  I am Ashley of Lemon and Lavender. I run a full service design studio specializing in wedding stationery and paper goods. In addition to the wedding side of L&L we also do business branding and logo design. I definitely have a passion for weddings which is how I got started in the blogging business! I love sharing what inspires me as a designer and I was thrilled when Jacin invited me to participate in her series!

Blogger {Unveiled}:

How did you get started in the wedding world?
I have always loved pretty things like any girl and growing up having a dad who was into graphic design and engineering he taught me how to scrub drawings in AutoCad and how to design a logo at a young age. After finishing my BA in English I decided grad school wasn’t for me and I was inspired by other mom entrepreneurs who could create a successful business and raise a family. In fact, it was my wedding planner who inspired me to go out and do what I loved: designing stationery. In March of 2010 I set-up shop and lucky for me several friends were getting married and just like that I had a client roster.

What is your makeup staple?
Lip gloss and blush.  I may skip the mascara and eyeshadow but I never leave my house without applying blush and gloss!

What’s one thing that others don’t know about you?
I secretly want to live on a farm. This sounds crazy I know, but there is something romantic and exciting about living on the land. I will never really do this but I love the idea of a provincial life preferably a lavender farm in France :)!

What’s one piece of advice you would give to others trying to get started with their own business?
Don’t be afraid to fail. My business has grown and I couldn’t be more happy with my little successes but I didn’t start this business thinking I was going to make it big. I simply knew I wanted to do what I love and I wanted to share my passion with others. If it fails, so what? At least in twenty years I won’t have the regret of never taking that leap. Faith in ourselves is essential to success.

What is your favorite part about weddings?
In my line of work, I don’t get to see the bride on her wedding day, but I love getting that email after a bride has received her stationery with lots of exclamation points and OMG’s :) It truly makes me day. As anyone in the business will tell you happy bride, happy life!

What is your hobby outside of blogging {is there life outside blogging} :)?
I love spending time with family. Drinking wine, hitting the beach, dinner with friends. I love getting out away from my Mac and enjoying life outside the internet!

Happy Friday everyone!

I love her advice on not being afraid to fail, it is always the hardest part of pursuing your dreams, but so true that we should fear failure because it only means we can have no regrets for not trying!
