Inspiration to Reality {#1}: DIY Magnetic Menu Board

{as seen at the San Francisco Ferry Building}

Have you ever been walking along during your daily travels and seen something that makes you think “wow, that would be good for a wedding!” I do it all the time, and snap a little picture with my iPhone or my nice camera, if it’s with me. There are so many ideas and inspirations out there, so I wanted to share some I’ve found along the way (and give you ideas on how you can create the idea yourself!) Today will kick off a new series featuring ideas just like this, so stay tuned for more!

Let’s start off with this menu board I spotted at the San Francisco Ferry Building, while walking through the farmers market a few weeks back (you may have seen me post this pic on Facebook, too!).

Wouldn’t this be perfect for your wedding bar menu, or a seating chart? I did a little searching for you, here’s what you need to turn this inspiration in to reality:

See? So easy to reproduce! Quick tip: your local hardware store will have kraft paper up the wazoo, I know this because I worked at my family store for most of my life! They have it on hand to wrap glass once it’s been cut (for windowpanes) - just ask them! What I’m thinking is you take the cardstock, make a pretty design on your printer and cut to size (to make headers as they have above), then you can line the back with pretty paper to give a little pop of color or design. Use a glue gun or double sided tape to apply the card stock to the pretty paper border, then apply magnetic tape to the back so it holds your kraft paper to the metallic board. You could totally use this again as a memento in your kitchen once the day has come and gone!

Happy crafting!

    This can easily be translated into so many different iterations. It would be great as a seating chart, too. Plus, if you have to move guests around, you just move their magnet!
