Gasp! No real wedding today? Well, friends, seeing as there are about 1,000,000 other wedding blogs out there these days, I think it’s OK if I post something a little different today, just a tiny piece of advice for the bridesmaids on a super helpful shower gift for the bride. Are you ok with a bit of change, just for today?
Along with the standard tasks of the bridal party at showers (making the ribbon bouquet, collecting the wrapping paper, organizing the food, making sure everyone has a beverage, writing down all of the gifts, etc), there are a few little things I’ve learned over the past few years that I wanted to pass on. The simplest little things really do make such a difference, so here are two little ideas for you to make your bride’s life a little bit simpler when it comes to Thank You notes!
1. Rather than writing down all of the gifts on a piece of paper, next to the gift giver’s name, consider writing the gift on the back of the card that came with the gift. This way the bride will know exactly who gave the gift, and there will be zero confusion as to which “Jennifer” gave the china set!
2. Have the bridesmaid with the neatest handwriting pre-address a pile of envelopes (complete with thank-you cards to go with them!) so the bride can just write her cards and send them on their way.
These are some of those lovely little details that really do make a big difference!
Do you have any tips you’ve learned that might benefit others?
I actually love that you did not post a real wedding today (does that make me a bad blogger?) I like these kinds of posts even better! I think one of the most helpful things you can do at a shower is to have someone ready a waiting to help guests with the gifts at the door. It may seem like a given but I have been to so many showers where I have had to wander about, with a package, trying to find where to put it down and where to sit. It is lovely when you come in and someone says hello. takes the gift off you hands and points you in thr right direction : )
I like this post! Bridal shower advice, tips to make the little wedding things easier (ie. Thank-you’s) and maybe some bachelorette party and pre-wedding pampering advice is some good stuff to keep coming on the blog!! I love real wedding and inspiration post too but it’s really nice to see some different things because too much inspiration overload occurs and some tips are just as great! Thanks Jacin!
Love all of this! Bridesmaids tips are always awesome and welcome- I’ve found that so many aren’t quite sure about what to do, and so they end up asking their moms and perpetuate practices for showers that aren’t quite “2011″. ;) Thanks for posting this!
This may seem common sense but to piggy back on your pre-addressed envelopes - water wands to seal the envelopes when you are ready to send them are a life saver. I have watched many friends lick their envelopes until they are sick from glue lol.
Great tips!!! Thanks for sharing.
Love these advice tips..I will forward along to my BMs. LOL. Thanks for the wonderful tips!
Those are awesome tips and yes I am ok with the change!!:)
Great tips!!! I’ve also heard of having the guests fill out an envelope addressed to themselves with their address. Then you KNOW you have the correct address for that guest.
Love the second idea, to preaddress the envelopes. Genius!
love this! i know you see it talked about a lot, but i’m particularly fond of having a signature cocktail at the shower - like a “blushing bride” punch! :)
Love this post! Great tips on the side topics that we tend to not hear much about. Thank you!
I love changing it up a little, especially when you include such great advice!
fantastic idea! way to avoid the post shower headache
Love the idea of writing the gift on the back of the card! genius!!
These are awesome ideas!!! Definitively taking notes! =)
i love the idea of writing the gifts on the back of the card (for any occasion!)! i wish i had done that! i thought it was very hard, being organized… keeping gifts together… writing thank you notes. that definitely would have made it easier! ;)
Brilliant writing the gift on the back of the card!!!
