Bloggers {Unveiled}: Lauren Grove of Every Last Detail

Today’s visitor in the Bloggers {Unveiled} series is the ever so sweet Lauren Grove {I know, such a pretty name, right?} of Every Last Detail. I’m not quite sure when Lauren and I first “met” in this blogging world, but I think it was when I joined twitter back in November of last year, and true to her blog name, she is all about the details, just like me! Lauren has always been an overall ray of sunshine and I am so honored to have her visiting today! Keep reading to learn all about how she got where she is now, and learn a bit more about the lovely behind the magic at ELD :)

About the Blogger:

Lauren Grove is the editor and owner of the wedding planning and inspiration website Every Last Detail. Lauren provides insight for brides from a wedding professional and a bride’s perspective, while sharing weddings and shoots that are inspirational and of course focus on the details!

Blogger {Unveiled}:

How did you get started in the wedding world?
I kind of “fell” into the wedding industry- if you had told me 5 years ago that I would be doing what I do now, I definitely would NOT have believed you. The story goes like this: I didn’t find wedding blogs until it was too late in my wedding planning (about 4 months before my wedding). After my May ’09 wedding, I kept reading blogs, and realized that there were lots of things that I would have done differently if I had known better. The thing was, I had a wedding planner who I thought would have guided me along, but that wasn’t the case (she was in my small town and not “up” on the trends).

And so, I started a blog (then called The Design Grove) with the intent of helping brides and trying to prevent them from making the same mistakes I did. Soon after starting the blog, I took a wedding planning course because I wanted to learn more about weddings- the right way to do things, the ins and outs, what happens behind the scenes, etc. One of the requirements for the course was to “apprentice” with a company for a certain number of hours, and I ended up at an event decor & design company. A few months into apprenticing with them, I was offered a position with the company as their in-house planner and an associate designer.

I relaunched my blog as Every Last Detail in November of ’09 and refocused the blog to reflect my experiences as being a recent bride and working “behind-the-scenes” in the wedding industry. And then almost a year and a half after the launch of ELD, I was able to leave my job at the event design company and pursue the blog full-time!

What is your makeup staple?
Oh wow- I kind of can’t pick just one! I guess my makeup staples are MAC Fluidline and Estee Lauder DoubleWear foundation. I love both because they stay on all day- and sometimes all night. :)

What’s one thing that others don’t know about you?
That when I blog, I have different playlists for different types of posts. I listen to classical music (usually piano) while I’m writing a more “wordy” post, and more upbeat songs when I’m blogging a wedding or shoot. It’s become a necessary part of my “process”.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to others trying to get started with their own business?
Sometimes you just have to take that leap and do something that scares you. It’s really the only way that you can ever move forward in business. Step outside of your comfort zone. I know it’s cliche, but it’s the truth. :)

What is your favorite part about weddings?
The details of course! I love how a couple can infuse their personalities into their wedding. When guests see something at a wedding and say “That’s SO {bride’s name} and {groom’s name},” those are the details that matter for a wedding. Plus, there are so many different ways to incorporate details into a wedding- I love them!

What is your hobby outside of blogging {is there life outside blogging} :)?
Well, I suppose that since blogging is now my full-time “job”, it can’t be a hobby anymore. I suppose whenever I’m not working, my husband and I like to cook dinner together, take our dog-child to the bay, or watch random TV series and movies. So I guess my hobby is spending time with my little “family”. :)
