san diego bound…

My grandfather, Harold Vernon Pepper, Cdr. USN (Ret), (top center) was a pretty amazing man. He served in the US Navy during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam and was the honorary recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Air Medal with three stars. So to say he was pretty amazing is really an understatement. He was a true American hero, and certainly a hero of mine. Besides his military accomplishments, he could also pull quarters out of our ears - and even though we could hear the jingle in his pocket each time, we always thought it was magic. It was. And this weekend, along with my extended family, we will be putting him to final rest in the most honorable way possible, via Navy memorial in San Diego.

So as we head down south for the weekend, I remind you to call your loved ones and say I love you.

See you back here next week.

My grand fathers are my heros too. My GrandPa (my all time favourite person on this planet) fought in the war. He was 16 when it started, 18 when he went to hide in the forest for years and fighting from inside France.
But although he lived through such hard times, he is the most generous, caring, supportive and sweet person I know. He is a hero for his country but for us, his family.
I will always look up to him.
All the best for this weekend Jacin: it is an honour as much as it is hard to go through things like this. Your grand dad would be a proud man to see that he fought for his country and his family and now his grand daughter has the chance to shine as a generous, hardworking, genuine and talented woman. It makes it all worth the battles.
    Love ya, sister! x

I have a feeling your grandfather and my Grammpie would have been friends:) Kindred spirits. I love that you are all gathering to honor him in a wonderful and important ceremony…he’ll be pulling quarters out of his ears and sending his love from above. You look a bit like him, lovely…no wonder you’re so pretty and talented:) xoxo to the Pepper family and beyond.

Sending you and your family love. He sounds like an amazing man. I think of my grandpa often, but I esp. thought of him and my grandma on my wedding day. How I wish they could have been there, but they were certainly there in spirit and always will be. xoxo
