pimp my schoolbus

by jacin on August 26, 2010

we have gone back and forth about renting limos, tried to get a trolley to bring in the san francisco effect, party bus, towncars, you get the picture.  pat has 8 groomsmen and i have 6 in my bridal party.  plus 4 parents, 2 photographers and a videographer, you’ve got yourself a lot of people!
we are doing a shuttle for our guests to and from the reception venue and the various hotels (we’ve already sold out of one of the hotels!!), to allow everyone to have a good time and eliminate the worry of “who is driving home!”  that shuttle is… a schoolbus.

so since the schoolbus is giving us a rate for all-day, we figured, why pay another bus almost the same amount of money for 20 minutes worth of work?
some people might think it’s a little less than ideal.  but me?  it’s cost-effective, and “old school” - get it?  i mean seriously - it’s a ride from the church to the reception, so everyone can go together.  it’s also providing a safe ride home to our guests, so they can fully enjoy themselves (and the road leading to the yacht club is very windy!)  it’s not costing a million bucks and with all the other details i want to take care of, it’s kind of at the bottom of my list.  so we threw the “cool” factor out the window!
but… there are some little details i would love to incorporate, of course, to help make a schoolbus look “cute” :).  below are some images i found for inspiration!

my maid of honor’s parents have a 2-seater convertible that they said we could borrow for the ride to the reception… so the two of us might take them up on that, followed by our crew in the bus :)
