Today’s Bridal Fitness post comes in the form of a video post from Jonny, our Bridal Fitness editor.  A reader asked how to stay healthy while traveling - a real challenge for all of us - and Jonny took us on a grocery store tour to give us the facts!!

i love these posts!! so great! i never make my tuna with mayo anymore… i always replace mayo with greek yogurt… it's good! :)

Tuna w/ Greek yogurt, Great choice! :)The tuna w/ salsa gives it a much different texture, and a bit spicy which is nice. I like it with celery sticks

Gonna kinda throw a wrench in the mix ;)

I'm an ovo-vegetarian, so no dairy for me! Other high protein foods that are non-dairy and good for travelling?

Also, you have to be careful how much tuna you do eat with the mercury content; some studies say women of child bearing age shouldn't eat albacore tuna at all. Just something to think about :)

I love the advice on staying on the outer circle of the store! I never thought of that. And, greek yogurt with tuna, I gotta try that.

Sardines are another great choice, but I can never get any of my clients to eat them :) I love them though, and they are full of healthy fats, as well as practically no mercury. I know mercury is a big scare these days, but it's no reason to avoid things like tuna all together, just moderate it. My wife ate tuna just about every other day while pregnant, and sushi at least 2x/week. Not saying everyone should do that :)

Great post! Haha, yes, fat free cottage cheese does taste kinda funky.

I love tuna because of the crazy amount of protein, but because of mercury levels I try to eat it no more than twice a week.

Randomness: My dog kept coming up to my laptop and tilting his head when there was the squeaky toy sound in the video. :)

Jonny—Thanks for your response! It really is a personal choice in regards to what you eat and what you don't eat, just be healthy about it!

Any non-dairy vegetarian protein suggestions?

non dairy vegetarian protein choices are much more limited, which can make it challenging to get enough protein if you're not using supplements. I would suggest eating raw nuts and fruit. If where you shop has a deli, check out to see if they have a prepared quinoa salad of some sort. If you're lucky enough to find a store that carries Ezekiel bread, you can have that with some natural peanut butter or almond butter. Ezekiel bread is great since it has a combination of whole grains and lentils, making it a complete protein source, with lots of fiber
