I rarely post weekend recaps but this weekend was an exception so I wanted to share some of the loveliness. Pat and I are trying to take advantage of where we live and explore a bit more, so Saturday morning we took an impromptu road trip down to Monterey & Carmel, about a 2-hour drive from San Francisco.
On Saturday morning, I hopped on Priceline.com and snagged a 4-star hotel room for only $100. Considering I could have spent that much in a day at the shops or on dinner & drinks, we thought it would be fun to get away and do something different! So we booked our room and hit the road. Thanks to my lovely friends Annie from Marry You Me and my friend Skye, we had tons of recommendations from wineries to restaurants to things to do, and took up as many of their recommendations as we had time to do!
So as I tend to do, I’ll let the photos do the talking {with a bit of narration here and there}. All photos were taken by yours truly and havent been in photoshop.
On the way, I got a call from my lovely friend Jennie of Jennie Fresa Beauty Library and as I caught up with her quickly, Pat sat and took in the sights at a beach on the way.
Had to take a quick shot of my flip flops as I left my Uggs at home :)
Then after we checked in at the hotel, we headed down to Carmel and hit up a white powdery sand beach with crystal turquoise waters, and this little squirrel friend walked right up to me and I was afraid he was going to climb up my leg!
We also hit up a few wineries during the day but the only pics I have were on my blackberry. They were just as yummy as Annie had said!
On the way back this morning, I spotted this tree and loved the colors, so I convinced Pat to stop the car so I could take a picture :)
…and a closer look!
Then on the way back home we stopped at Clint Eastwood’s place, Mission Ranch, for some delicious brunch and the best mimosa I’ve had in a while!! I of course asked the waiter if Clint was around and he was, but we didn’t get to stalk see him.
Then we did the 17 mile drive in Carmel, a scenic ride that takes you through Pebble Beach golf course with some gorgeous beachy sights along the way. If you don’t know me yet, I love the beach.
And at one of the beaches, we met our seagull friend, Harold.
A hole at Pebble Beach golf course.
When we got back in to SF we stopped at the farmers market for some dinner necessities and I picked up some bright yellow fresh freesia. I had to put them in my pretty canning jar of course, and set up the table with my pretty mercury glass votives and little chickies from World Market {aka my new favorite place}.
So that was my weekend - I hope you all enjoyed yours as well! I’ve realized I need to shut down the computer more often and live in the moment so I’ll try to provide more recaps like this :)
Have a great week!

That's so funny, I was just there! About 1-2 weeks ago, I was visiting my brother and his wife in San Jose, and we took a day trip down to Monterey to see the aquarium. We did 17 mile drive too!
Isn't it so nice to get away for awhile?! Going somewhere new and trying new things always makes me feel so adventurous. Glad to hear you had a good weekend!

Your pictures are gorgeous! It sounded like the perfect getaway. My hubby and I honeymooned in San Fran and Napa and we wanted to drive down the coast to Monterey. Unfortunately we didn't have time but definitely want to make a trip back to do it sometime!
What a gorgeous weekend! I keep trying to get us down to Carmel for a little mini vacation, and this has definitely inspired me!
