this reminds me of the little chocolate turkeys my grandmother, mimi, used to have at our place settings when we would go to her house for thanksgiving. it was always fun to go to her house because she would always have a special treat at each place setting… and at least a set of salt and pepper shakers per person. i think that’s where my love of salt comes from. i am missing mimi more than usual because this will be my first holiday season without her and as we all know, sometimes it gets harder before it gets easier. but in honor of her, i will be making scalloped oysters for our thanksgiving which we are hosting in san francisco this year (and i’m perfectly OK if i’m the only one who eats them… it’s a new england thing!)
this will be our first thanksgiving where we’re not headed back east, so it’s a little strange, and we’re both missing our families back east. but i do get to bust out the new china and spend time with dear friends out here… and at least it’s cold out so it feels like thanksgiving!
i’d like to wish all of you a very wonderful thanksgiving and hope you’re able to give your loved ones an extra hug and spend some quality time with family. take advantage of the time you have together and have a lovely time while you’re at it.
happy thanksgiving!

PS - i skipped out on thursday purseday in honor of thinking about the more important things in life today… but don’t think it won’t be back next week :)
