While this project was initially intended as a Valentines Day DIY, my creative mind couldn’t help but think of a million other uses - can we say proposal, save the date, or love letter, anyone? Using simple lemon juice, the amazingly creative Kate over at MiniEco {I dare you to visit her blog without spending an hour oogling over all of her unique ideas!} created this lovely little DIY that had me smitten right away. From the colorful heart confetti to the sweet sentiments hidden within the bottle, I just fell in love with this and couldn’t wait to share with you!
From Kate:
To reveal the message all you have to do is hold it up to a heat source (you can see the results in the image below). You can use a lightbulb, hairdryer, iron (no steam) or candle for example. PLEASE PLEASE be careful and don’t let the kids do this bit. I nearly flambéed a few pieces of paper on the stove top.
Isn’t this just the greatest? It certainly made my day happy. For more amazing ideas (and the full post), head on over to Kate’s blog and show her some love!
Oh, and guess who’s starting up at the blog tomorrow? My lovely blog assistant, Camille from The Lovely Theory - she is pretty much the sweetest thing ever, and super talented, too! She’s been blogging over at Darling Little Details for a few weeks now, but I can’t wait to introduce her to you, too!

I’ll admit I actually squealed when I saw this little DIY. How cute would it be for a little “wishing bottle” at a wedding? The bride and groom could each write a little message with invisible ink and then each guest could take a heart (or whatever shape you want to make the wishes), make a wish and then throw it into the bottle. Love how versatile this idea is - thanks for passing it along!
Such a fun idea- there are so many things you could do with this!! Thanks for sharing :)
LOVE THIS.
What a sweet diy! Love the “secret” part … it makes it extra special!

How sweet this message is! This would a really cool way to ask your bridesmaids to be your attendants, like a top secret mission!
I love this idea - so cute! It’d be so fun to send a little note to your love or your friends letting them know you’re thinking of them using this idea.
